"Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour." 1 Peter 5:8
This verse really scares me. I don't know about you, but I hate the thought of the devil prowling around me, waiting and watching for ways to destroy me. What most people don't realize is that he plays this active role in our lives all the time...24-7! He is just like a lion, stalking and waiting for a perfect moment to pounce and rip his prey apart. If you allow him, the devil will destroy your faith and kill your relationship with God and others. His ultimate goal: DEATH.
He accomplishes this by moving very slowly, attacking the little things at first. Then the attacks become bigger and more devastating. Peter warns us to be sober and vigilant, aware of what is going on...through prayer, Bible study and faith.
Satan is real and he really hates you. He wants you to give your life to him and the worldly things he controls. Be vigilant and alert! Do not give in! Keep your eyes focused on Jesus. You have the power to put satan down through the very name of Jesus Christ! Here's how Jesus himself handled satan in Matthew 4...Then saith Jesus unto him, "Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve."
